About me

Anna Merget

Hi, I’m Anna, founder of Mindful Alma. My journey to becoming a grief and mindfulness coach has been shaped by personal loss, transformation, and a deep desire to support others in finding healing and meaning during difficult times.

In 2020, I experienced the profound loss of my beloved ex-boyfriend, Chris, which set me on a path of grief, self-discovery, and resilience (only in retrospect). While navigating this challenging time, I found solace and strength through mindfulness, yoga, and spiritual exploration. These practices not only helped me heal but also inspired me to help others facing similar struggles.

Who is Alma?

Alma means “soul” in Portuguese and Spanish, and it carries a very special meaning for me. During my grief journey, I embarked on a road trip through Portugal with my best friend in a charming old VW bus. As we traveled, we sought a name for our little temporary home on wheels.

Throughout our journey, the name “Alma” kept appearing, whether in street or town names, and we were drawn to its sound and simplicity. Near the end of our trip, we spotted the word “Alma” on a sign in a grocery store and decided to look up its meaning. Discovering that it meant “soul” felt profoundly fitting.

 

That 10-day road trip was one of the most soul-nurturing experiences of my life, filled with joy, connection, and renewal.

This is why I chose “Alma” for my brand. It represents the essence of what I aim to offer through Mindful Alma: a space to nurture and heal your soul, which is living in this temporary home that we call our body and mind. Let’s go on this journey together, to mindfully nurture and honor your Alma.
